Rent convergence consultation

10 July 2025

The government has published its consultation on how to implement rent convergence.

It is asking for views on whether to introduce a £1 or £2 per week uplift for rents that are below the value set by the rent formula.

We are gathering evidence from members to show how a £3 per week uplift would support housing associations to accelerate investment in new and existing homes.

Please send any feedback or evidence to matthias.barker@housing.org.uk.

We will also be hosting virtual roundtables on Tuesday 29 July, 14:00-15:00, and Thursday 31 July, 10:00-11:00.

If you would like to attend, please get in touch.

We will be coordinating a more detailed modelling exercise across our membership to show the impact of different convergence scenarios on investment in new and existing homes.

If you would like to be involved with this, please also get in touch.
