Fuel Fund now available for social housing residents

03 April 2025

HACT are offering an opportunity for social housing providers to offer further financial support to their residents. This financial aid offers a lifeline for many, helping residents to maintain a warm and safe living environment.

HACT’s Fuel Fund awards pre-payment fuel vouchers worth up to £49 to households living in social housing, experiencing financial difficulty and struggling to meet their energy costs. Households will be eligible for up to six vouchers. They receive referrals for the awards from social housing providers and charities across Scotland, England and Wales.

The Fuel Fund scheme has distributed over £7m to social housing residents across England, Scotland and Wales since the programme began in 2020.

In 2024, each household received an average of £209 in energy support and debt relief, helping over 12,000 households manage their energy costs more effectively. In addition to this immediate financial support, 90% of the households have also received onward referrals from the scheme including financial & benefit advice, further energy advice and health & wellbeing support.

To register a referral partner for this funding, visit the fund page on HACT’s website. Once registered as a referral partner, you will be able to refer residents for support and apply for vouchers on their behalf.
This support will be available over the next 12 months until the end of December 2025.
